If you're wandering the picturesque streets of Nantes and find yourself craving authentic Italian cuisine, look no further than San Marco, a charming restaurant nestled at 14 Rue du Chateau. Renowned for its traditional Italian fare, this establishment gracefully captures the heart of Italy without the distraction of pizzas, allowing the pasta to take center stage.

As you step into San Marco, you're greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a leisurely dining experience or a cozy gathering with friends. The ambiance strikes a lovely balance between elegance and comfort, making it an ideal spot for both casual dining and special occasions.

The menu is a tribute to the rich culinary traditions of Italy, with a delightful focus on pasta dishes that steam with aromatic sauces and fresh ingredients. A standout recommendation is the Burrata mozzarella, a stunning appetizer that melts in your mouth and is served with a burst of flavor that encapsulates the essence of Italian cuisine. For the main course, many guests rave about the salmon pasta, where tender pasta harmonizes beautifully with rich, flavor-packed sauce, ensuring an unforgettable meal that leaves you longing for more.

But don’t just take our word for it! Customer reviews swirl with praise for the impeccable service that’s as delightful as the food itself. Rémi Romac highlights the professionalism of the staff, stating, “Had the burrata mozzarella as a starter and the salmon pasta as a main dish. Very tasty and highly recommend!” Similarly, Shangda Li shares an enjoyable experience that showcases both the exquisite pasta and the attentive service. With such positive feedback, you can anticipate a dining experience that exceeds expectations.

However, one should enter with balanced expectations. While many dishes shine brightly, some guests have noted small inconsistencies—like bruschetta served on crackers rather than the traditional toasted bread—aspects that might stand out in comparison to an otherwise stellar offering. Philipp Petersen captured this sentiment, revealing that while the fish pasta had its merits, it didn’t quite live up to the titillating expectations set by its impressive exterior. Nonetheless, such insights present opportunities for continuous improvement.

With its excellent location and standout dishes, San Marco is a prime destination in Nantes for anyone eager to indulge in delightful Italian cuisine. So whether you’re a local or a traveler, make it a point to unwind and treat yourself to an authentic Italian culinary experience at this hidden gem!

Traditional Italian food. No pizzas there! Mainly pasta dishes. Waiter was very professional and polite. Had the burrata mozzarella as a starter and the salmon pasta as a main dish. Very tasty and highly recommend!

The food was without a doubt good. However, I do not think it lived up to the first impression that I had after seeing tons of "petit fute" prices on the door. Bruschetta was served on some form of cracker instead of a toasted bread. Moreover the pasta simply had less taste than what I would expect by a garlic loaden seafood feast.

Good location , if you are rue du chateau , San Marco is just there to wing you in. We were here a year ago and both had the same dishes. Except desert ( testing like it was to long in the fridge ) we might try again next year . All is ok !
